About Bukuru
How it started
Bukuru was inspired by the words of Alan Watts, the eloquent British philosopher who passed away in 1973. He pointed out that each person is best off if he consistently acts upon his own beliefs – as an experiment, to test which beliefs are correct and which are false. This path will create the least inner conflict in a person and should logically lead to great insights.

Bukuru is designed to be a resource for people who wish to embark on such a journey. It provides all the tools we can imagine to make it easier and more effective to know, apply and change your beliefs.

With Bukuru, you can start your journey anytime and anywhere in the world. However, not every environment is equally suited for a deep dive into your self-development. The final stage of our project will be the opening of a center that is optimized for each person to define and implement their own self-development strategy.

The End of Self-Development according to Alan Watts
If you're considering going down the road that Alan Watts sort of pointed to, you might like to know what the man thought would be at the end of this road.

He had no doubt that most books, therapies or practices have the potential to improve someone's quality of life. Many people will even become happy and feel no more need for further self-development, even to the end of their lives.

That would be great. However, Watts was also convinced that each attempt to improve oneself – especially those that are successful – reinforces the root cause of all desires and distortions: a belief in the illusion of selfhood. Sooner or later, perhaps in another lifetime, the only solution left to even the most mundane problems is to see through the ego.

In essence, he believed that all honest journeys eventually lead one to non-duality. Simply because any other model does not hold up in real life. Only, most people take wandering or circular path – they never really test their own beliefs, so their journey becomes very long.

More than 50 years after Watt's death, his work is still very popular, especially on Youtube. But the essence of his work is often being overlooked. That's why we have included a section about non-duality – the essence of Watt's work – on this website.
If Watts was right and his message resonates, then non-duality would be your short cut to a long-lasting improvement in your quality of life.
